Good news this afternoon as the weather has been cooperative allowing fire crews to make good progress on containing the SCU Lightning Complex Fire.

Today, Thursday, 8/27 crews are performing a controlled burn in the area of Henry Coe Park Headquarters. This controlled burn will create a large fire break, thus helping to prevent the fire from spreading beyond the burn area. This controlled burn may cause large columns of smoke today, which may be visible over the eastern hills.
As of this morning at 7:00 AM the SCU Lightning Complex Fire was 35% contained and had 1,903 personnel, 233 engines, 42 bulldozers, and 7 helicopters working to contain the fire.

CalFire continues to hold daily press conferences at 3:00 PM to provide updates and answer questions regarding the SCU Lightning Complex Fire. All press conferences are available for live-stream and post-live viewing via twitter @CALFIRESCU.
A CalFire Base Camp has been established at Christmas Hill Park to support operations on the southern and western sections of the SCU Fire. The Ranch Side of Christmas Hill Park is CLOSED to the public until further notice.
