Over the next 24 hours, the Calaveras and Canyon Zone fires, each part of the CSU Lightning Fire Complex, may merge in the area of Henry Coe Park. If this happens, it may produce a large column of smoke visible east of Gilroy. Evacuation Orders and Warnings for our area continue to be located on the far east side of Gilroy. Tonight’s forecast includes slightly cooler temperatures, westerly winds, and better humidity recovery which will aid the fire control efforts. Additionally, the predicted winds may also steer the fire to the southeast, away from populated areas.
The Gilroy Fire Department is assisting in firefighting efforts, with three engines and eleven firefighters deployed to the regional efforts while maintaining enhanced staffing with the City. Additionally, the City is once again hosting CalFire in a portion of Christmas Hill Park as a satellite support center.

Ann Sobrato High School located at 401 Burnett Ave., Morgan Hill CA 95037, has been designated as an Evacuation Resource Center for Santa Clara County.
