Find out what's happening in Gilroyfor free with the latest updates from Patch.
Given the new directive from the Santa Clara County Department of Public Health, we have consolidated food service hours at our seven school sites. Free breakfast and lunch for all children in Gilroy will be provided from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 17-April 3 at these schools:
- Solorsano Middle School
- South Valley Middle School
- Antonio Del Buono Elementary School
- Eliot Elementary School
- Glen View Elementary School
- Rod Kelley Elementary School
- Rucker Elementary School
Children must be present to receive meals. We will be evaluating the level of participation in this program this week and may be reducing the number of sites where food is available in the coming weeks.
2. Contact information for questions about school closures following the COVID-19 pandemic
The District Office has a designated email address and phone number for you to submit questions or concerns regarding steps it is taking in response to COVID-19:
Email: questions@gilroyunified.org
Call: (669) 205-5590
3. Supplemental learning opportunities
Supplemental learning opportunities are available to families in the Gilroy Unified School District in two ways: hard copy and online. Supplemental learning opportunities will not be graded and are optional.
Hard copy packets of supplemental learning activities for each grade level for those who are unable to use the online resources provided by GUSD will be available for pick up at the seven school sites that are distributing food to Gilroy children. Packets can be picked up from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at South Valley Middle, Solorsano Middle, Antonio Del Buono Elementary, Eliot Elementary, Glen View Elementary, Rod Kelley Elementary and Rucker Elementary.
Online learning opportunities are available to students using Google Classroom. Printable packets can be downloaded here. Information about lessons and FAQs can be found here.
4. Shelter in place
The District Office and all school sites will close through April 3 per the Public Health Department’s directive. Only essential District Office staff will be working remotely during the shelter-in-place order, and further information will be released as it is available. Email is the best point of method of communication for all District Office and school site staff. This is a developing situation and we are working closely with our partner organizations, and changes may arise. We will keep you updated. Please don’t hesitate to email us with your questions or concerns but please understand that there may be a delay in normal communication given the orders we are following.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Sincerely,
Dr. Deborah A. Flores, Superintendent
Gilroy Unified School District
