Gilroy Taps Jim Wyatt For Interim Fire Chief Role

GILROY, CA — Jim Wyatt has been tapped to be Gilroy’s interim fire chief, the city announced in a news release.
Wyatt has served as a fire division chief. He replaces Interim Chief Mark Bisbee, who plans to leave the city, the news release said.
Wyatt has worked in the fire service for 35 years; starting as a firefighter and paramedic and was rose through the ranks to become a fire engineer, fire captain, battalion chief, and division chief.

He has worked for the Gilroy Fire Department for 7 ½ years and has taught emergency medicine for 38 years to nearly 10,000 aspiring EMTs and paramedics.
Over this last year, Wyatt has led the City of Gilroy through the COVID-19 pandemic by adeptly managing the City's emergency response as the Emergency Operations Manager, city officials said.

“In this role, Wyatt's committed leadership has been felt throughout the City as he has provided vision and direction to the City's Emergency Operations Team empowering each team member to fulfill their respective roles,” the news release said.
