Heat Advisory In Effect For Santa Clara County For June 3

National Weather Service has forecast a warming trend for the San Francisco Bay Area for Tuesday and Wednesday and heat advisory for June 3.

SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CALIF. – The National Weather Service has forecast a warming trend for the San Francisco Bay Area for Tuesday and Wednesday, and issued a heat advisory for Wednesday, June 3. Inland temperatures are expected to reach 15-20 degrees above average (upper 80s to upper 90s) resulting in moderate risk to vulnerable individuals.

If you know of a vulnerable person without air conditioning, such as an older adult or infirm neighbor or someone with a drug or alcohol disorder or severe mental illness, please check on them via phone or email and ensure that they are staying cool and safe. If you see someone on the street who may be having a severe reaction to the heat, please call 911.

Cooling centers are open in Santa Clara County in the cities of San Jose, Gilroy, Morgan Hill, and Saratoga. To prevent the spread of COVID-19, the County of Santa Clara Public Health Department’s social distancing protocols will be observed at all cooling centers. Three Santa Clara County Library District locations, Gilroy Library, the Morgan Hill Library, and the Saratoga Library, will be available as cooling centers on Wednesday, June 3, from 1:00 pm-6:00 pm

  • Saratoga Library - 13650 Saratoga Avenue, Saratoga, 95070
  • Gilroy Library - 350 W. 6th St., Gilroy, CA 95020
  • Morgan Hill Library – 660 W. Main St., Morgan Hill, CA 95037

Five San Jose cooling centers are open Tuesday, June 2 and Wednesday, June 3, from 1:00-7:00 pm:

  • Mayfair Community Center - 2039 Kammerer Ave., San José, CA 95116
  • Camden Community Center - 3369 Union Ave., San José, CA 95124
  • Seven Trees Community Center - 3590 Cas Dr. San José, CA 95111
  • Roosevelt Community Center - 901 E. Santa Clara St. San José, CA 95116
  • Cypress Community Center - 403 Cypress Ave., San José, CA 95117

The following County Public Health Department social distancing guidelines will be enforced for cooling centers:

  • Do not enter if you have COVID-19 symptoms including fever, cough, diarrhea, headache, muscle aches, shortness of breath, unexplained loss of taste or smell
  • Face covering is required (exception of children 6 years and under or if medically unadvisable)
  • Maintain a minimum distance of 6 feet from others at all times
