Loaded Gun Found At High School; 1 Arrested, 2 Detained: Police

HOLLISTER, CA — One student was arrested and two more were detained after a loaded gun was found Thursday at Hollister High School, police said.

The school posted on social media around 10:45 a.m. that a lockdown was in place. A school resource officer had received reports of drug activity Thursday morning, which led to the discovery of the gun, police said.

Authorities searched at least two areas of interest at the school and the lockdown was lifted at 12:15 p.m., according to authorities. No injuries were reported and classes at the school were canceled for the rest of the day, as were athletic and extracurricular activities, authorities said.

Counseling resources will be available to students when classes resume Friday, according to the school.
