Look to Local Community Colleges for Fast Track Career Training
Today centers like Gavilan College offer fast-paced training programs for great careers that don't require a degree.
The recent closure of 28 career-college campuses -- most of them in California -- marked the final
chapter in the unprecedented collapse of a giant in the field, Corinthian Colleges, which for years has faced widespread allegations of fraud, deception and waste of taxpayer dollars.
Across the state some 16,000 displaced students at Heald, Everest and WyoTech wonder what to do next. At the time of enrollment, many of these students may have not been aware of an alternative option to career training that came with a tremendous debt. For many years California’s community colleges have been offering a variety of quality career training programs. In the past, if your main objective was to earn as much as possible as soon as possible, the private career college was the way to go because of its ease of entry and more frequent enrollment periods. Today community colleges like Gavilan College offer a variety of fast-paced training programs for careers that do not require a degree.
Gavilan College has teamed up with local employers in the Gilroy and surrounding area to offer fast-paced career training programs that will not only help to fill the workforce gap but to provide training with a learner-centered approach.
