Metz Fire In Monterey County Expands To 3,800 Acres
Cal Fire officials said a wildfire burning Sunday evening in unincorporated Monterey County has grown to 3,800 acres.

MONTEREY COUNTY - Cal Fire officials said a wildfire burning Sunday evening in unincorporated Monterey County had grown to 3800 acres by 8:30 p.m.
Officials say they now have 20 percent of the fire contained.

Firefighters were dispatched at 3:27 p.m. to the Metz Fire, which is located near Metz Road and Blue Jay Lane, east of Soledad.
The fire is zero percent contained, according to Cal Fire spokesman Jonathan Pangburn. No one has been injured and there is no immediate threat to homes.
The main threat is to power transmission lines, which would cause a major power loss in Monterey County, Pangburn said. . "That is the primary concern," he said.
Wind is the driving force behind the fire, which is burning mostly grasses.
About 135 firefighters are fighting the blaze with 24 engines, six airtankers, two helicopters and two bulldozers.
