Missing Gilroy Man’s Body Found In Lake Tahoe: Report
Ian Morlang, 25, had been missing since Tuesday. His body was discovered Thursday off the shore of Lake Tahoe in 117 feet of water.
SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CA — A Gilroy man’s body was discovered Thursday in deep waters off the shore of Lake Tahoe, South Tahoe Now reports.
Ian Morlang, 25, had been missing since Tuesday according to the report. His body was found in 117 of water by a an El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office dive team using a remote operating vehicle.
Morlang was among a group of three people who had taken a rental sailboat to Lily Beach in South Lake Tahoe to go swimming, the report said.

Winds and water currents separated the three from their boat and each other.
The two people Morlang was with were rescued and told authorities they saw Morlang go under water but didn’t see him again afterwards, according to the report. Both were wearing lifejackets, but Morlang was not.

A rescue operation South Lake Tahoe Police Marine 1 boat, the U.S. Coast Guard and several law enforcement and fire agencies was conducted until sunset, the report said. A Coast Guard and Navy rescue helicopter from Fallon Naval Base continued the search into the night.
