More Than 200 Cars Stolen So Far This Year In Gilroy
Police offer helpful reminders to keep your vehicle safe!

GILROY, CA – News from the Gilroy Police Department:
Cars are being stolen at an alarming rate. Since January, Gilroy has had over 210 cars stolen throughout the city.
With the mornings becoming colder, owners should NOT leave their vehicles unattended as they 'warm-up' outside. Thieves actually patrol neighborhoods looking for AM vehicle exhaust clouds.

Other anti-theft tips can be removing or disconnecting the battery if the vehicle is not being used daily, simply locking vehicle doors and securing all windows, not leaving ignition keys in vehicle, and parking in well-lit or video recorded areas.
Owners with older vehicles should use extreme caution. Vehicle ignition ports can become warn over time, allowing any key or object the ability to start the car.

Officers and task force agents are currently working on the problem and have made arrests this week, however please be diligent!
