SANTA CLARA COUNTY, CA – Three more Santa Clara County residents have died from the new coronavirus, which takes the country-wide death toll to 106, local health officials announced on Tuesday.

Local health officials said Tuesday that community transmission continues to be widespread around Santa Clara County with the highest number of positive cases being recorded in San Jose (1,409) followed by Sunnyvale (119) and Santa Clara (101).
Tuesday’s report from local health officials comes just a day after officials in six counties – including San Mateo County – announced they would extend the Shelter In Place order through May. The current order was to expire on May 3, but county executives agreed that they needed to see a decline in positive cases and deaths as well as an increase in deaths before they would consider lifting the order.
