Gilroy Opens Cooling Center Amid Heat Advisory

Santa Clara County is under an Excessive Heat Watch through Wednesday.

GILROY, CA – Amid an excessive heat warning issued by the National Weather Service, Gilroy has issued an advisory and announced the opening of a cooling center.

Gilroy has opened the Gilroy Library through Wednesday from 1 to 5 p.m. Santa Clara County is under an Excessive Heat Watch through Wednesday.

Temperatures in Gilroy are forecast to top out at 104 degrees on Monday and 103 on Tuesday and remain in the 90s through at least the weekend.

The library is located at at 350 West Sixth Street. Occupancy will be limited, and social-distancing measures will be enforced, city officials said.

There will be no library services available.
