Two Men Airlifted To Hospital After Fight Gets Ugly In Gilroy

Cops seeking two male suspects.

Two men were injured in an assault that occurred after a verbal altercation escalated to violence in Gilroy on Monday afternoon, according to police.

The incident was reported at 4:24 p.m. Monday in the 5500 block of Monterey Road, where an argument ended in an assault with a deadly weapon. A 22-year-old man from Hollister was stabbed in the back, and a 32-year-old Hollister resident suffered a head injury.

Both men were transported to a hospital by air ambulance, according to police.

Police said the incident was not motivated by gang affiliation. Witnesses said that after the assault, the suspects fled the scene in a dark SUV. Responding officers canvassed the area, but could not locate the suspect vehicle, according to police.

The suspect were described as: SUSPECT #1 - 20-25 year-old, white male, 5’10” and approximately 180 lbs.; SUSPECT #2: 30-40 years old, Hispanic male, 5’10” – 6’.
