A poignant film directed by Ava DuVernay, Selma chronicles the life of Martin Luther King Jr., narrowing in on the turbulent three-month period in 1965 when he led a dangerous campaign to secure equal voting rights in the face of violent opposition. The march from Selma to Montgomery culminated in President Johnson signing the Voting Rights Act of 1965.

David Oyelowo (pronounced - βoh-yell-oh-ohβ), nominated for a Golden Globe for best actor for his portrayal of Dr. King, says he is βhonoredβ to star in the first major motion picture about the civil rights leader.
Oyelowoβs journey to play Dr. King began in 2000 when he performed as another kingβ King Henry VI in the Royal Shakespeare Companyβs staging of the famed play by the same name.
