Woman Killed In Head-On Crash Near Gilroy

GILROY, CA — A 60-year-old Los Banos woman was killed in a head-on crash Saturday morning on the Pacheco Pass Highway east of Gilroy, the California Highway Patrol said.

The two-car collision was reported about 11:15 a.m. along State Route 152, also called Pacheco Pass Highway, just west of Lovers Lane in unincorporated Santa Clara County.

The wreck happened when the driver of a 2015 Chrysler 200 headed westbound turned left for unknown reasons, drove over the yellow lines and head-on into a eastbound 2009 Honda Fit, the CHP said.

The woman killed was a passenger in the Honda; the car's driver was hospitalized with minor injuries.

The driver of the Chrysler also suffered minor injuries in the crash.

Alcohol or drugs are not suspected as factors in the collision, the CHP said.
