Armed Robbery Attempt Reported at 76 Station

Man allegedly used what appeared to be a plastic gun to try and rob the gas station.

A man armed with what appeared to be a fake gun attempted to rob the on Grand Avenue early Thursday.

Police were called around 5:18 a.m. to the gas station, 954 South Grand Avenue, by the attendant who reported a man in a black hoodie and a black grocery bag over his head attempted to rob the station with a gun. No loss was reported, according to Lt. James DeMond.

The gun was described as a orange, green or yellow semi-automatic and appeared to be fake. The victim allegedly followed the suspect northbound on foot on Grand towards Mauna Loa about 10 minutes before police were notified.

Police scoured the area, but found no one matching the description.

In addition to the hoodie and plastic bag, the suspect was described as in his mid-30s to early 40s, 5 feet 6 inches, 140 pounds, skinny build, had a bald head and was clean shaven. He also reportedly wore blue jeans, black plastic sunglasses and spoke with a Hispanic accent.
