Blog: Perspectives from the Global Student Leaders Summit

A local high school student will be traveling with EF Tours this April to learn more about environmental sustainability while touring the beautiful country of Costa Rica.

Hello, Readers. My name is Alexandra Molina. I am sixteen years old and attend St. Lucy's Priory High School here in Glendora. I am writing to share with you my experiences as an EF Global Citizen.

After submitting my essay on deforestation in the Amazon and my possible solutions to the problem, EF graciously awarded me and the other nineteen other chosen high school students from the U.S. and Canada a trip to Costa Rica where we will tour Costa Rica's unique biodiversity and ecosystems while studying its successful environmental policy initiatives. Our trip will culminate at an Earth Day Summit on April 20 and 21 in San Jose, Costa Rica, where we will meet and exchange ideas with other students and hear speakers such as former U.S. vice president, Al Gore and environmental activist, Severn Cullis Suzuki.

I am excited to be given this opportunity to go to Costa Rica. My dream since I was a little girl has been to work with animals, and I hope to one day be a wildlife veterinarian and/or animal conservationist. Over the years, I have grown to love the environment that sustains my beloved wildlife. I hope that through this trip abroad I can learn new ways to better my world at home by following Costa Rica's positive example.

I am eager to share my experience. I have never traveled alone before nor have I been very far from home. I hope that through my life changing moments I can inspire readers to make some of their own. I encourage you to check back here often for updates!
