International Space Station over Glendora
International Space Station and Hubble Space Telescope to Soar Over Glendora!
The International Space Station will make a very visible pass over Glendora tomorrow night (Saturday, April 6th). At exactly 8:00pm, look to the west and over the San Gabriel Mountains, and you will see a "star" heading eastward. That is the ISS, and it is traveling at 17,500 mph, or about five miles per second. It will be visible for about four minutes. On board is a crew of six: Mission Commander Chris Hadfield, with Flight Engineers Tom Marshburn, Chris Cassidy, Pavel Vinogradov, Roman Romanenko, and Alexander Misurkin.
Also appearing that night, although not nearly as bright, will be our Hubble Space Telescope. At 9:15pm, look to the horizion from West to Southwest. You will (hopefully) see a very dim "star" climbing in the sky, heading directly overheard. It will be visible for about two minutes.
