Brook Clemetson Signs with Cal State Fullerton Softball

Brooke Clemetson, senior and varsity captain of the Charter Oak
softball team, has been playing softball since she was seven years old. That means that she has been playing softball more than half of her life! When asked about her motivation, Brooke responded,
“My greatest motivation has been to receive a scholarship to play at the college level.” She has done just that. On Thursday November 9, 2013, Brooke made it official by signing a contract with Cal State Fullerton. She will be attending Cal State
Fullerton in the fall of 2014 on a softball scholarship. “I am relieved because it takes off the pressure of finding money for
school. I am also thankful because I am allowed to continue playing the sport I love while continuing my education,” stated Brooke in regards to her scholarship. Of course, what would an athlete be without her team? When asked about who she would like to thank, Brooke listed her family, her coaches and her team stating, “ I would like to thank my parents for taking me to all my games and practices and paying for everything, also my siblings for constantly supporting me by going to my games and helping me practice, and all of my coaches. I personally love the
friendships and memories I have created with my team while playing softball.”
Brooke’s journey to success hasn’t always been easy, however. There have been obstacles and difficulties in the road. Brooke has had to juggle her athletics with her education and with her social life. “I think the greatest challenge has been all the birthday parties and events I have missed because I had a game or I had practice,” said Brooke. Trying to maintain a social life while maintaining good grades and keeping all of her commitments
to her team is nearing impossible, but Brooke has managed
to do all three and earn a scholarship. Brooke’s advice to anyone who dreams of playing sports at the college level is to “work hard and be determined because if you set your mind to it, anything is possible.”
Congratulations, Brooke!
