California Businessman Tony de Vos Marks "Green Anniversary" With American Solar Energy Society
California businessman Tony de Vos, the President and CEO of Cardinal Pet Care, has made his passion for the environment into a movement.

AZUSA, Calif. – California businessman Tony de Vos, the President and CEO of Cardinal Pet Care, a maker of pet foods and grooming products, has made his passion for the environment into a movement for his company. Seeking the efficiency and environmental benefits of a sustainable energy source, de Vos upgraded Cardinal’s offices and manufacturing plant to use 100% solar-powered energy in 2009. De Vos and his Azusa-based company are also members of the American Solar Energy Society (ASES) – a further effort to stay involved with the green community and keep up on the latest advances in environmentally-friendly technology.
“2014 marks a major solar milestone for both organizations,” noted de Vos. “This year is ASES’s 60th anniversary and it’s also Cardinal’s 5-year anniversary of running from 100% solar powered energy. We couldn’t have reached such an important energy-saving goal without the help of groups like ASES.”
In fact, upgrading to solar power five years ago saved Cardinal so much that the company was able to fully air condition its manufacturing plant and warehouse for workers. The comfortable work environment led to Cardinal winning the prestigious “Best Green Company To Work For in the San Gabriel Valley” award, presented by the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, Pasadena Star News and Whittier Daily News.

A membership-based nonprofit organization, ASES believes solar energy and efficiency are key to protecting the environment and growing the economy. The organization’s job is to study, inform and act as a resource for solar information. ASES is the American affiliate of the International Solar Energy Society (ISES), of which Tony de Vos and Cardinal Pet Care are also members.
ASES publishes Solar Today, a print and digital magazine that offers the latest information in solar breakthroughs and opportunities, plus business insight trends, energy efficiency tips and DIY solutions.

“Cardinal has always taken extra steps to be environmentally astute – from our solar-powered facility, to our natural pet products, to our recyclable packaging,” said de Vos. “We want to share what we’ve learned about green manufacturing with the rest of the industry. We support ASES not only as a member, but also by promoting their information on our Green website.”
