Carls Jr. Shooting in Covina Involving Off-Duty Police Officer

An off-duty police officer was involved in a Covina shooting at a North Azusa Ave. Carl's Jr. today. More information as this story develops

An off-duty Los Angeles police officer this afternoon shot and killed a man who allegedly committed a crime against him at a Carl's Jr. restaurant in Covina.

Firefighters were dispatched about 3:15 p.m. to the eatery in the 500 block of North Azusa Avenue, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department Inspector Joey Marron.

The unidentified man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The officer was the victim of an unspecified crime committed by the suspect, according to Covina Police Department Sgt. Gregg Peterson, who said the officer is OK.
