“Our Christ First Covina family is excited to serve the San Gabriel Valley on April 21,” said James Laing, lead pastor at the church. “We know many are looking for employment or simply better employment and it's our honor to provide a venue to bring recruiters and job seekers together. We’ll have a team of volunteers ready to serve and exceed the expectations of both recruiters and job seekers. We hope this day will be a catalyst for new doors to open and many employment contracts to be signed.”
Christ First Baptist Church is presenting the event in partnership with Church Job Fairs, which works with churches to present events throughout California. Church Job Fairs (www.churchjobfairs.org) helps provide job seekers with hope and encouragement, while introducing them to a welcoming local church and delivering enthusiastic job candidates to employers.

Designed for people who are currently unemployed, military veterans and those who are looking for new career options, job seekers will have the chance to meet with dozens of organizations and educational institutions – all in one place and all in one day. Because attendees will have the opportunity to network, develop valuable contacts and get a foot in the door with respected companies that are actively hiring, they are encouraged to dress in business attire and come equipped with current resumes.
Participating recruiters are looking to fill as many as 450 current job openings in accounting, administration, clerical, customer service, education, financial services, health care, nursing, law enforcement, management, manufacturing, non-profit, sales, transportation and more.
To help attendees distinguish themselves and prepare in advance for the job fair, Christ First Baptist Church will also host a free resume writing and interviewing workshop on Thursday, April 14, from 10 a.m.-noon. The session will offer valuable tips about writing and updating resumes, online job searches, how to dress for success and the best approaches to interviewing for a job. It is also intended to help people address the legal and financial pressures of finding a job. Workshop attendees will be given a “fast pass” to avoid waiting in line on April 21. Only those who attend the workshop will receive a fast pass. To register, visit www.christ-first.org.
