Council Ratifies Tim Staab as Next Glendora Police Chief

The Glendora City Council has ratified the City Manager's selection of Captain Tim Staab as the city's next chief of police.

The ratification was made at the Nov. 12 Glendora City Council meeting with a unanimous vote.

City officials decided to forego an open recruitment process in the wake of Rob Castro's sudden departure as chief to head Glendale's police department. Officials said the need to fill the soon-to-be vacant position was critical in order to ensure a quick transition and to ensure that several of the department's top projects continued unhindered.

"Tim certainly has all the tools and attributes that we would expect of any Glendora Police Chief," said Chris Jeffers, Glendora city manager.

"Thank you for your trust and confidence in me. I won't let you down," Staab said.

Staab had many kind words for outgoing Police Chief Rob Castro.

"I have so much to be thankful for in regards to Chief Castro's friendship. We've known each other for many, many years. He has left this department in such great shape. I get to take over a fantastically-run police department," Staab said.

The open recruitment process for such a vacancy could take anywhere from four to seven months. With Staab currently serving as second in command, City Manager Chris Jeffers said Staab will provide a seamless transition.

"I think we lead Glendora on a path of nothing but success. The things we've been able to achieve I think will continue on," Castro said. "I look forward to this new chapter in my career."
