COUSD First Grader Awarded the 2016 Woman of Achievement Award

Congratulations to Zoe Lopez of Glen Oak! On March 24, 2016, Senator Ed Hernandez honored Zoe with the Emerging Leader award for breaking all preconceived ideas of girls in sports and helping to change notions about the physical strength of women.
Zoe was one of fourteen women honored during Women's History Month for playing a significant role in shaping the economic, cultural, and social fabric of our society.
A letter from Senator Hernandez stated that Zoe’s contributions, accomplishments, and service to the San Gabriel Valley have made you worthy of this commendation.”
Glen Oak is proud of their young eagle and will be recognizing her school-wide at their honor roll assembly on Tuesday April 5th. Zoe and her family were also invited to the Governing Board Meeting on May 5th where the Board presented her with a Good Apple Award.
