Foothill Area Gas Leak Closes Roads To Vehicles And Pedestrians

A gas leak erupted in the area of Vermont and Carroll Avenues, south of Foothill Boulevard: Glendora

GLENDORA, CA β€” Nearly 100 homes and businesses were evacuated Monday afternoon at approximately 3 p.m. after a construction crew ruptured a four-inch gas line during excavation work on the 200 block of Vermont Avenue, south of Foothill Boulevard.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the leak, officials said.

Work crews from The Gas Company arrived at the scene in the area of Vermont and Carroll avenues, south of Foothill Boulevard in Glendora, police said. 96 homes and eight businesses were evacuated, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

The area of Vermont Avenue and Carroll Avenue will remain closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic for at least 2 hours, the Glendora Police Department said, with expected reopening of the streets after 6 p.m. Monday.

The police will update when more information is available.

The Glendora library and the Teen Center (241 W Dawson) will be open for those who live in the affected area, Police said.
