City of Glendora Announces Matt Egan as the New Glendora Chief of Police

On September 8, 2020, City Manager Adam Raymond announced that Glendora Interim Police Chief Matthew Egan has been selected as the new Chief of Police for the City of Glendora. Chief Egan replaces Chief Lisa G. Rosales, who retired in February of this year.

Chief Egan is a 31-year employee of the City of Glendora, and a 30-year employee of the Police Department. He was hired as a Police Cadet in 1990, and later worked as a Jailer and Dispatcher, until he was hired as a Police Officer in 1996. Chief Egan has worked as a patrol officer, motor officer, traffic accident investigator, field training officer, detective, corporal, sergeant, and lieutenant until he was promoted to Captain in 2017. As Captain, he has been directly responsible for supervising the department’s five lieutenants and their subordinates, creating and overseeing department policies, and managing the department’s budget. Chief Egan was appointed to the Interim Police Chief position on February 20, 2020.
Chief Egan has a Bachelor’s Degree from California State University, Long Beach, and has attended many intensive leadership courses throughout his career, including the distinguished Sherman Block Supervisory Leadership Institute, and is currently working on his Executive Leadership Certificate from the California Police Chiefs Association.
Glendora City Manager Adam Raymond commented, “Since assuming the Interim Chief role six months ago, Matt has been an unsung hero for the Glendora Community. Under Matt’s leadership, the Police Department have been invaluable partners in addressing the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring a safe environment for social justice conversations, and quickly addressing quality of life issues for Glendorans.”
Chief Egan grew up in Glendora, the town he affectionately refers to as his “home,” and is a graduate of Glendora High School. He is married with four children, and still lives locally.
