Hour of Code

The week of December 9-15 Willow students joined 10 million students in the “Hour of Code”, an hour of computer science foundation activities for students’ kindergarten – 8th grades. The Hour of Code is a self-guided activity that every student, in every classroom, can do. A variety of hour-long tutorials are available for students to try out the basics of computer science. The “Hour of Code” is part of the annual Computer Science Education Week (CSEd Week), a celebration to encourage interest in the field of computer science and show that anyone can learn the basics. “Many students have their own tablets and phone, yet, few are learning how computers actually work. Simple computer science activities can help nurture creativity and problem solving skills. By getting a feel for computational thinking early, students will have a foundation for success in any future career path,” Code.org.
