Jane Bock Recognized for Board Presidency Accomplishments

Outgoing President Jane Bock handed the gavel over to running mate Don Davis at the December 12, 2013 board meeting. 

The Board honored Mrs. Bock for the many accomplishments completed during tenure as Board President.  Superintendent Hendricks thanked Mrs. Bock for her leadership this past year under which the District Governing Board accomplished many things including:

· Adopted the Common Core Standards

· Approved the District June budget

· Received positive Budget Interim Reports (1st and 2nd)

· Approved the multi-year Technology Plan

· Accomplished many priority one and two projects on the Facilities Master Plan using Measure CO funds. 

· Approved lease leaseback agreements for projects that are underway or have been completed at Badillo, Glen Oak, Willow, Cedargrove, Washington, ROMS, COHS, and at the District Office.

· Declared Palmview surplus property for leasing

· Revised or adopted numerous BPs were revised

· Approved the addendum to the LEA Plan and the School Plans and the District LEA Plan

· Approved Master Contracts for NPSs

· Approved waivers for Cahsee waivers for students with special needs

· Accepted donations from the Women’s Club, PTA, Carol Gilkinson, and many other organizations.

· Approved flexibility of Tier III funding

· Approved the Common Core spending plan

· Approved Bridge materials for Common Core math

· Approval of all new course outlines for OKVA, Intergraded math at ROMS and COHS.

· Approved the SELPA AU transfer from LACOE to Covina Valley USD and the updated SELPA Plan

· Served on and/or led the Women’s Club, COPE, and the PTA Council.

· Secured productive and positive agreements with CSEA and COEA

· Continued the Energy Education Initiative that has saved energy costs.

· Approved and/or accepted of completions for the Badillo, Glen Oak, and COHS Measure CO projects

· Approved the establishment of the Human Resources Coordinator position

· Saw STAR scores that increased in many areas at many of the schools.

· Handled difficult staff reduction decisions due to proposed state cuts

· Established and revised the Budget Priorities document

· Reappointed a Personnel Commissioner

· Explored the future of surplus property

We look forward to Mrs. Bock’s continued participation on the board for many years.
