Last Signups For Glendora Pony League Saturday

Sign-ups are Saturday, Jan. 14 at Henderson Field.

This Saturday is the last chance to sign up for the Glendora Pony League’s upcoming season.

The last chance to sign up for this coming season is Saturday, Jan. 14 at Henderson Field, 859 E. Sierra Madre Blvd. Sign-ups will be from 1 to 3 p.m.

All players 13 and 14 years old born between May 1, 1997 and April 30, 1999, are eligible to play regardless of residency.

Players who live in Glendora, San Dimas, LaVerne, Claremont and Pomona are eligible for All-Stars.

New players will need to bring a birth certificate for confirmation.

The season begins when practices start Feb. 1 with the play-off season starting June 2. There are usually 10-14 teams. Players come from Glendora, San Dimas LaVerne, Pomona Claremont, Duarte and Azusa.

Only players from Glendora, San Dimas, LaVerne, Claremont and Pomona can be considered for All-Star nomination. Last year, the 2010 14-year-old All Star team place third in the western United States.

Pony Baseball (Protect our Nation’s Youth) celebrated its 60th anniversary last year and Glendora Pony has been a league for at least 30 years.

“Most importantly, we offer boys a safe and healthy place to play sports,” said Raffi Sanasarian of the Glendora Pony League. “We pride ourselves on fairness. Board members are not allowed to have children in the league, ensuring an equitable atmosphere, and the boys' well-being and playing experience are of paramount importance to us.”
