Planet Rehab Hoedown to save Animal Sanctuary Nov 14

Bluegrass Band STREETLIGHT CADENCE to headline Planet Rehab's 3rd Hoedown Benefit on Nov 14 in San Dimas

Residents of the San Gabriel and Inland Valleys are invited to attend Planet Rehab’s 3rd Annual Hoedown Fundraiser planned for 5 PM Saturday Nov 14, 2015 at the Planet Rehab Animal Sanctuary located at 2745 W. Dalepark Dr. San Dimas, CA

Planet Rehab, a nonprofit dedicated to protecting the environment, is holding the Hoedown at their Animal Sanctuary, which is home to over 350 animals, including Allen, a Giant Sulcata Tortoise that weighs over 250 lbs., Benjy the Alpaca, Goats, Bunnies and Birds, (among which are 6 of the world’s most beautiful species of birds!). Guests of the event are encouraged to explore the gardens, koi ponds, walk-in butterfly house and petting zoo.

The Hoedown will feature award winning Bluegrass band STREETLIGHT CADENCE as well as up and coming artist Kayley Stallings.

Gary Mitchell founded Planet Rehab in 2002 after listening to an NPR radio interview where Climate Scientist and Princeton Professor Michael Oppenheimer discussed the devastation that was occurring as a result of Climate Change. “I was in total panic mode” states Mitchell, who had been a financial supporter of several environmental organizations, “I felt I had to do more than write a check, so I founded Planet Rehab”. The mission of Planet Rehab is to educate people about crucial environmental issues. “Today we are causing the 6th Great Mass Extinction in history”, Mitchell laments, “according to the United Nations Environmental Program Report, every single day we are causing the extinction of 150-200 species!”

The Hoedown, which will feature a “Veggie” Chili contest, is one more way that Planet Rehab hopes to educate the public and inspire change. “Most people have no idea that when they eat beef, they are contributing to the destruction of the Amazon Rainforest”, explains Mitchell, “85% of the 56 million acres of Amazon Rainforest destroyed each year is being used to grow feed for cattle. We want to show our guests that meat-free cuisine can be satisfying and delicious”.
