were called to business in the eastern end of town earlier Friday, after an employee reportedly discovered some suspicious-looking devices in a parking structure nearby.
Officers examined the devices, which actually turned out to be months-old fireworks left inside a planter on the second story of a parking structure behind Cal Portland Co., 2025 East Financial Way, according to Sergeant Matt Egan.
Police were called at 11:33 a.m. to the location. The employee discovered the devices and described them as looking like tampered flares with wires attached to them, according to scanner reports.

The employee took photos of the two devices and showed them to officers, who immediately deduced they were fireworks, Egan said.
"I don't know what caused him to be suspicious. Apparently they happened to be there for quite a long time. We went out and examined them and determined they were not an explosive device, they were old fireworks just left there in a planter," Egan said.
