Record Number of Degrees Conferred at Citrus College Graduation
The 95th commencement ceremonies at Citrus College honored 184 graduates and conferred 1,246 degrees, the largest ever in the history of the community college.
Graduating students at Citrus College received public recognition for their scholastic achievements at the 95th commencement ceremony Saturday where a record number of Associate degrees were conferred (1,246).
The Class of 2011 at Citrus saw 184 graduates, with 112 graduating with honors and 46 with high honors (overall G.P.A. 3.6-3.79) and 53 with the highest honors (G.P.A. 3.8-4.0) according to statistics provided by College officials.
The oldest graduate was 72 years of age, while six where more than 55 years old.

The youngest graduate was 18 years old.
The most popular degree was Social and Behavioral Sciences, followed by Business. Sixty-one international students also graduated, the largest contingency being from Japan. Twenty-nine veterans who returned from college after serving in the military also walked.

The Alumni Achievement awards went to Ivan Misner, the founder and chairman of BNI, the world's largest business networking organization, and Daniel Parke, a highly respected entrepreneur known for his expertise in establishing companies specializing in serving the energy efficiency needs of businesses. Misner and Parke were members of the Citrus College class of 1976 and 1975 respectively.
The Distinguished Faculty Award was presented to professor James Zaharke who teaches Administration of Justice, Criminal Law, and history and humanities courses, among other subjects.
