Small Brush Fire Ignites Behind Teen Center
Flying embers also ignite small fire at South Hills Park.
Fire fighters battled a small brush fire that erupted behind the Crowther Teen Center earlier Tuesday.
The fire burned about an eighth of an acre behind the racquetball court area and burned some trees as well. No injures, or structural damage were reported, said Quvondo Johnson, inspector with the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The fire broke out around 4:11 p.m. and was located between the Teen Center and the eastbound 210 freeway, Johnson said.
Embers being carried by the wind also ignited a small patch of brush at South Hills Park. Fire crews made quick work of that fire as well.
“We have not determine a cause just yet, although we are looking into what may have caused the fire. If anything suspicious is determined, we will call in our investigators,” Johnson said.
