Surveillance Video Led to Package Thief's Arrest, Police Said

Officers responding to the theft reviewed the video and went back out on patrol where they spotted the suspect and arrested her.

AZUSA, CA - Surveillance video of a woman stealing a package from the front porch of an Azusa residence led to her arrest, police said.

Police learned Friday that a package was stolen from a residence in the 300 block of South Pasadena Avenue, according to a press release.

The responding officer learned there was a surveillance video of the suspect committing the theft, police said. After viewing the video, the officer returned to patrol.

Several hours later, the same officer saw the woman shown on the video walking in the area of McKinley Street and Pasadena Avenue, the release said.

The officer stopped and detained 40-year-old Blanca Alvarado, of Azusa, police said. Alvarado was in possession of more packages, which were determined to have been stolen.

Alvarado was arrested for possession of stolen property and police said she also will be charged with petty theft.
