Tartans' Bows out of Playoffs to Notre Dame Academy in Five Sets

Glendora takes firsst two sets, then NDA rallies to take the final three sets and the victory 21-25, 16-25, 25-15, 25-18, 15-10

The Glendora high school girls’ volleyball once again bows out of the playoffs in the quarterfinals as it fell to Notre Dame Academy 25-21, 25-16, 15-25, 18-25, 10-15.

Glendora took an early 2-0 lead, but then Regal Griffins rallied to take the last three sets and the match.

Coach Clara Lowden’s bunch was ousted last season by Troy also in the quarterfinals and was hoping for a better result this season.

“For us, it’s huge to reach the quarterfinals because that’s where our season ended last year,” Lowden said after her team’s victory Thursday over Los Altos. “Half of this team is back from last year, so we’re glad we got back to the quarterfinals to try to go even farther this year.”

Against the Conquerors, the Tartans were led by Riley Jacobs, who earlier in the day signed her letter of intent to UNLV. On the court Jacob contributed 22 assists, five kills, four blocks and eight big aces, including three big ones in the third set to give Glendora a 15-8 lead.
