Brush Fire Breaks Out In Glendora

The fire is near the 800 block of North Grand Avenue in Glendora.

GLENDORA, CA — A brush fire near the 800 block of North Grand Avenue in Glendora broke out and Los Angeles County firefighters are currently battling it. No structures are threatened and winds are light, a fire department inspector says.

Firefighters were dispatched at 1:48 p.m. to the brush fire, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department officials. The fire is moving uphill in medium fuel, with winds at approximately 5-10mph. It has now reached 5 acres as of 2:31 p.m. and is currently at 0% containment.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department is in unified command with Angeles National Forest.

There are 200 firefighters from the Los Angeles County Fire Department on the scene at this time. The number of Angeles National Forest firefighters on scene is unknown, according to officials. Two water-dropping helicopters were deployed, and by about 2:50 p.m., firefighters had stopped the forward progress of the fire, which was burning uphill through medium fuel toward Angeles National Forest territory, according to the dispatcher. Winds were relatively light around 10 mph, he said.
