The Glendora Police Department alerted residents of the outdoor gas pump skimming operations. Here's how to spot one.

GLENDORA, CA — The price of getting gasoline in Glendora may have been a bit more than you bargained for, according to the Glendora Police Department.
A recent rash of "skimming" incidents have taken place at Glendora area gas stations according to the police.
"These skimming incidents generally take place at outdoor gas pumps," police said over Facebook alert.

"Pumps can be opened by unauthorized individuals and electronic devices are placed inside the pump," they explained. Then, those intercept your credit card information when you swipe.
"There are typically no outward signs that this is happening," the police stated. "If your pump is equipped with a broken tamper seal, do not use the pump card reader and call the attendant."

When you use your credit card at a gas station consider going inside to make your purchase.
"Using your card inside the station drastically reduces your chances of having your information stolen," the police said. "If you find yourself a victim of this sort of fraud, notify your bank and your local police department."
