Glendora High School sophomore Tara Travisano makes a difference at school and church.

NAME: Tara Travisano
SCHOOL: Glendora High School, sophomore
ACCOMPLISHMENT: Travisano was awarded the Youth Recognition Award from the Glendora Coordinating Council.

KEY TO AWESOMENESS: This outgoing and very active teen was the Glendora Coordinating Council’s youth recipient for May 2011. She is an active member of Glenkirk Presbyterian Church and is involved with Vacation Bible School and the Glenkirk Homeless Outreach. You can see her serving meals and handing out clothing and supplies at homeless shelters and in Skid Row, raising money for the Cancer Society and ALS, and collecting canned foods for those in need during the holiday season.
Besides her humanitarian efforts, Travisano excels academically and is an active student as a member of Glendora High School Pep Club and as the JV Cheer Captain. She is also a member of the GHS New Hope and Make a Difference clubs.

“I am extremely proud of the young woman Tara continues to become,” wrote Erin Franssen, Glendora High School teacher and pep adviser. “She is a young lady of integrity, compassion, kindness and a contagious joy for life. I hold Tara in the highest regard and I believe she is very deserving of this prestigious award.”
