The Chargers led most of the way, survived a late Buena comeback, then pulled ahead in overtime behind standout scoring from Grant Nelson and Channing Wigo and clutch saves from goalie Koa Zertuche.
   

• Meet the City's New Environmental Services Manager (independent.com) — Goleta has hired longtime environmental consultant Andrea Dransfield as the city’s new Environmental Services Manager, putting her in charge of stormwater, creek and watershed protection, and solid waste and drainage rate studies. With more than a decade of local experience, she’ll now lead key programs aimed at protecting Goleta’s natural resources and keeping neighborhood waterways and infrastructure in good shape.
   

• Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Golf Tourney Tees Off Oct. 17 (noozhawk.com) — An annual breast cancer awareness golf tournament later this month will help fund services at the Breast Imaging Center at Goleta Valley Cottage Hospital, along with Santa Barbara’s Breast Cancer Resource Center. Local golfers and sponsors are invited to Lompoc’s Mission Club on October 17 to support early detection, diagnostics, and non-medical support for patients across the Goleta–Santa Barbara area.
