Reminder: San Mateo Bridge Closures

The San Mateo-Hayward Bridge will close entirely for two weekends in October.

The San Mateo-Hayward Bridge will close entirely for two weekends in October.

Caltrans will close the bridge the weekends of Oct. 19-22, and Oct. 26-29, to allow crews to install a new seismic joint and replace 60 feet of the bridge deck just east of the high rise.

The full closure of all eastbound and westbound lanes will begin at 10 p.m. Friday of those weekends and continue until 5 a.m. the following Monday, opening in time for the weekday commute.

During the closures, commuters are asked to use alternate routes including the Dumbarton Bridge, SanΒ Francisco Oakland Bay Bridge, or the southern route along Highway 237.

On the eastbound side (Foster City) the on-ramp from Edgewater Boulevard and MetroΒ Center Boulevard will be closed. On the westbound side (Hayward) the on-ramp fromΒ Industrial Boulevard and Clawiter Road will be closed.Β All off-ramps will remain open.

Mainline traffic will be guided to exit eastbound 92 at Foster City Boulevard andΒ westbound 92 at Clawiter Road.Β One westbound lane may be closed as early as 11Β a.m. on Friday.

Changeable message signs will be posted throughout the Bay Area to notify motorist ofΒ the upcoming closures.
