HEALDSBURG, CA — What began as a boutique music-and-wine event has evolved into a fast-growing fundraiser and cultural draw, blending entertainment, activism, and hospitality in a way few festivals attempt.
The Ramble, born of grief, is returning with one of its most ambitious lineups yet, pairing major touring acts, local wine, and an anti-gun-violence mission that has turned a homegrown gathering into something much larger.
The Ramble returns on June 6 with music, new culinary programming, and all proceeds benefiting the national gun violence prevention group GIFFORDS. The organization is led by Gabby Giffords, the former congresswoman who suffered a severe brain injury during an assassination attempt.
BloodRoot Wines announced the Ramble, now in its fourth year, will take over Abel de la Luna Community Center Fields, bringing indie rock band Spoon and pop-soul duo Lucius to Healdsburg.
Organizers say the event has evolved from a local passion project into a signature regional festival, pairing nationally recognized performers with Sonoma County wines, local chefs, and immersive culinary experiences.
While Spoon and Lucius anchor the bill, the line-up includes soul artist Devon Gilfillian, psychedelic cumbia-punk group Tropa Magica, and rock outfit The Plastic Cherries, with additional acts to be announced.
Festival organizers are also adding a culinary stage this year, where chefs will host cooking demonstrations, while wineries from the Overshine Collective will pour alongside other Sonoma producers. Sponsors include Solful, River Electric, and Little Saint.
Noah Dorrance, co-founder of BloodRoot and Reeve Wines, said landing Spoon marked a milestone for a festival that has steadily expanded its reach and reputation.
But the festival’s mission reaches beyond entertainment. The Dorrance family launched the benefit in memory of their niece Evelyn, who was killed in the 2023 Covenant School shooting in Nashville. Since 2023, organizers say The Ramble has raised more than $250,000 for the cause.
That mission has become central to the event’s identity, giving the festival uncommon weight in a crowded summer concert calendar.
Past editions have drawn acts including Ziggy Marley, Lord Huron, and Andrew Bird. Organizers say more food vendors, chefs, and sponsors will be announced in the weeks ahead.
