SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A standoff with a suspect who barricaded himself and his wife in a bedroom while threatening to set the home on fire in a usually quiet Sonoma County neighborhood created a tense stand-off that drew in off-duty officers from across the agency.
Cloverdale police responding to a 9-1-1 disturbance call at about 8:16 p.m. on Saturday in the 200 block of Buckeye Circle found a domestic violence standoff inside a home.
The suspect, Daniel Carrillo, had barricaded himself inside a bedroom and was holding his wife against her will.
Cloverdale police said Carrillo threatened to harm the woman and ignite the home if officers tried to enter.
Police drew Carrillo toward a bedroom window and broke through into the room. They removed the woman from the home and arrested Carrillo.
Authorities booked Carrillo into Sonoma County Jail on suspicion of corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant, kidnapping, criminal threats, assault with a deadly weapon, and damaging a communication device.
The Cloverdale Police Department said the woman received assistance following the rescue and left the residence safely.
Anyone with information about the incident should contact the Cloverdale Police Department.
