HEALDSBURG, CA — Seismic waves rippled through northwest Sonoma County from just past midnight into late morning today, as a swarm of earthquakes shook nearby communities, stacking up a string of jolts that escalated, faded, and returned across shifting fault lines.
A morning tremor just outside of Healdsburg was one in a series of more than a dozen earthquakes shaking Sonoma County since midnight, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The cluster of earthquakes rattled hills northwest of the Geysers between early morning and late morning, with repeated jolts striking shallow faults and spreading toward Cobb and Healdsburg.
The quakes ranged from under 1.0 to 2.0 magnitude today.
On Sunday, a near-2.4 magnitude earthquake struck near the Geysers along with smaller ones.
