SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A handwritten note, bright blue hair, and a leopard print jacket turned a would-be Tuesday morning bank robbery into a search that led to a Santa Rosa post office.
Police say an attempted robbery unfolded around 9:50 a.m. Tuesday at the Chase Bank on Sonoma Avenue. Investigators said a woman is suspected of handing a teller a note, demanding cash, and threatening to kill people. However, she did not display or threaten to use a weapon during the robbery, police said.
After taking an undisclosed amount of money from tellers, the woman walked out of the bank and disappeared before officers arrived, according to the Santa Rosa Police Department.
Police said witnesses gave officers a detailed description: bright blue hair and a leopard print jacket.
About an hour later, a patrol officer found the suspect inside the Montgomery Village Post Office and arrested her without a struggle.
Police identified the suspect as Sherilyn “Jane” Hollingworth, 32, of Santa Rosa. Authorities booked her into the Sonoma County jail on suspicion of robbery.
