HEALDSBURG, CA — There's a saying about this time of year in Healdsburg: You're either in the Future Farmers Twilight Parade or you're watching it. Because Healdsburg loves a parade.
The annual Future Farmers parade winds through town beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, kicking off an ag-filled weekend.
Floats, performers, community groups, and — of course — future farmers will fill the route under this year’s theme, “Sweet Home Healdsburg.”
The festival now in its 77th year is where Healdsburg comes together, from the future growers to the Michelin starred chefs to everyone who keeps the town ticking. Since it's FFA Day, even Healdsburg Unified schools are operating on a half day Thursday and are closed Friday for the entire day.
The Twilight Parade will wind through downtown streets beginning at St. John's Church on East and Matheson streets.
After the parade, crowds shift to Recreation Park, where the Healdsburg Future Farmers Country Fair fair opens.
Events from 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. daily until Saturday will be at the Healdsburg Recreation Park, 515 Piper St.
FFA and 4-H clubs will be exhibiting projects that they have been working. The livestock auction begins at 2 PM on Saturday.
