River Rescue Saves Man Swept Over North Bay Dam

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — A man swept over a dam into the Russian River is expected to survive after being pulled unresponsive from the water.

The man was swept over the Johnson's Beach dam in Guerneville at about 2 p.m. Monday, according to the Sonoma County Sheriff's Office. People at the scene pulled him from the water.

The Sheriff's Office said the man is expected to survive, citing the prompt medical care he received from bystanders and responding emergency personnel, including deputies from the Sheriff's Office's Guerneville Substation, as well as firefighters and paramedics from the Sonoma County Fire District's Guerneville station.

Paramedics transported him to a hospital.
