HEALDSBURG, CA — Bistro Lagniappe announced the end to restaurant's run in Healdsburg with bittersweet weeks of farewell dinners, discounted wine, and goodbyes from customers and local food advocates.
The announcement of the closing came in a message thanking customers for the dinners, celebrations, toasts, and evenings they shared at Lagniappe.
"To our friends, neighbors, and Healdsburg community, thank you for every dinner, celebration, toast, and evening shared around our tables," read the message on Facebook.
Now, customers should return during the restaurant's final weeks for another meal and a last toast.
"Thank you for being part of our story," was the parting appreciation. "It has truly been our privilege to serve this community, and we hope to welcome you for a final time."
The restaurant will also discount bottles of wine by 50% until the final day, according to the announcement.
Chef-owner Jacob Harth opened Bistro Lagniappe in Healdsburg in spring 2025, bringing what food writers characterized as a style of California countryside cooking inspired by the rural bistros and routiers of France.
The restaurant's unfussy, ingredient-driven cooking draws heavily on Sonoma County farms, ranches and fishers, with an emphasis on pasture-raised meats, sustainable seafood and produce from regenerative farms.
Harth described growing up on a farm in Southern Oregon in a restaurant family, where hunting, fishing, foraging and his grandmother's restaurant helped shape his approach to food.
He later opened sustainable-seafood restaurant Erizo in Portland and worked at Oxalis and Place des Fêtes in New York before settling in Healdsburg. The name "Lagniappe," was meant to draw on a New Orleans term meaning "a little something extra," reflecting Harth's approach to cooking and hospitality.
The announcement quickly drew expressions of disappointment, including from FEED Cooperative, which praised Lagniappe for supporting area farms and featuring locally grown food.
"We are so sorry to hear this," the cooperative wrote. "Thank you so very much for all of your support for our local farms and of FEED and for showcasing it in your wonderful food!"
FEED Cooperative is a farmer- and worker-owned food hub based in Petaluma that distributes produce from a network of farms.
Carrie Dutton, whose Healdsburg business curates personalized local experiences and events and provides interior design services, also mourned the restaurant's impending closure.
"I hope you know how special you all are!" Dutton wrote. "We will miss our times with you @frederick_mercer_iii & team. Truly Healdsburg's loss. Truly."
Another customer summed up the disappointment more simply. "Darn it! We enjoyed you guys so much! You all will missed," she wrote.
The final weeks will give regulars and other diners a last opportunity to gather around the restaurant's tables before the doors close.
