BAY AREA, CA — Smoke and fire poured from the north side of the Moss Landing Power Plant this morning, prompting evacuations and shelter-in-place warnings.
North Monterey County Fire District firefighters responded to the reported structure fire just after 6:15 a.m.
Crews were evacuating the facility, accounting for plant personnel, and working to stabilize the incident.
The fire also affected traffic on Highway 1 in the Moss Landing area. Officials asked motorists to avoid the area and allow emergency crews access.
