HEALDSBURG, CA — An 18-year-old Healdsburg High School student recorded by Flock surveillance cameras speeding through city streets at nearly triple-digit speeds was arrested and his car impounded, according to the Healdsburg Police Department.
Police arrested the student Wednesday and impounded his vehicle for 30 days.
Police were dispatched to Healdsburg Junior High School after callers reported someone driving dangerously nearby.
Callers said someone in the vehicle might be pointing a gun out the window.
The calls came while an unsanctioned "Fugitive Game" was supposed to be happening.
Police said the driver was speeding and making moves that put him and other people at risk. When officers tried to pull over the driver, he sped away, reaching more than 90 m.p.h. through Healdsburg city streets.
Police said they stopped chasing the teen when the chase became too dangerous and put people at risk.
Investigators used the Flock Automated License Plate Reader system and footage from an in-car dash camera to identify the vehicle. They later identified the student as the driver.
Officers confirmed that no real firearms were involved or displayed during the incident.
