The Alan Chan Jazz Orchestra and El Camino College Present "From Rancho Calaveras to Shrimp Tale" Alan Chan

El Camino College faculty member Alan Chan will showcase his talents at 8:00 p.m. on March 6, 2015 in the Marsee Auditorium. A professor of music and director of El Camino College Jazz productions, Chan will take the stage to show the audience the skills he’s used to mold El Camino College’s budding musicians.
The Alan Chan Jazz Orchestra, known simply as ACJO, has successfully unveiled their “Rancho Calaveras” EP and Chan was further praised for his distinct and “genre-shaking” sound, upon the released his debut album “Shrimp Tale” this past summer.
Chan is a critically acclaimed jazz artist who has lived and performed in the United States, Asia, and Europe. Orchestras, college and high school bands, and jazz bands, including the Brussels Jazz Orchestra, have performed his work. Chan founded the Alan Chan Jazz Orchestra in 2012 which is comprised of top Los Angeles studio and jazz musicians.

ACJO’s musical endeavors reach far beyond providing rhythmic and entertaining compositions. Chan draws from real-life experiences from living around the world and attempts to draw attention to significant world issues like environmental protection.
Tickets to the performance are $20 and may be purchased online at centerforthearts.org, by phone at 310-329-5345 or toll-free at 800-832-ARTS. The Ticket Office is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. Campus parking is $3. The El Camino College Marsee Auditorium is located at 16007 Crenshaw Boulevard, Torrance.
